My name is Tom Delaney, and the 道场 Dào·Chǎng website is a place where I share my experiences and insights in studying martial arts, mindfulness and it’s connections to whatever else I’m up to any given day — lately that’s earning my Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt, and training for a decent golf swing. I study the Chinese martial arts of wing chun, taijiquan and qin na with Sifu David Wong at the Oakdale Wing Chun Club, and learn plenty from my fellow students there as well. I have studied and practiced meditation and qigong for over 20 years and received my authorization to teach meditation from Tibetan lama Bardor Tulku Rinpoche. I also have my M.A. in Theology with a Concentration in Spirituality from the University of St. Catherine. My regular day job is working as an educational psychologist and manager in the Minnesota Department of Education specializing in partnerships with other state agencies to implement and improve polices and programs for students with disabilities and health challenges, including needs for mental health services. I also completed certification as an ACES & Resiliency Trainer with the Trauma Informed Care Technical Assistance Center. My work in education has included two residencies in Vietnam, where I learned much more than I taught. My home is on scenic Lake Judy in Shoreview (Minnesota, USA) with my fiancee and a pack of children ages 9 to 24, plus “Gunnar” the giant Black Lab. Thank you for visiting, and I hope you enjoy your time here.
